Rhone Report- 88pts December 2010

"Honeyed and rich, the 2009 Silver Viognier (87% Viognier from White Hawk Vineyard, and 13% Grenache Blanc from Camp 4 Vineyard in Los Olivos) is barrel fermented and spent 22 months on lees in a combination of new and old French oak. It sports a deep, almost musky bouquet of sautéed peaches, honeycomb, buttered toast, and touches of flowers and spice. Medium bodied, the wine has a rich, fat, and mouth coating texture that’s balanced out by vibrant acidity that shines on the long, dry finish. Rich, and at the upper end of the ripeness spectrum, this interesting, unique white should be consumed over the next handful of years."
